World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King! Whats New?
May 17th 2008 17:15
Aahhhhhh good old World of Warcraft.... over 10,000,000 people play this heartwarming, life threatening game, and I can tell you all that they won’t be stopping anytime soon. When I heard about the first expansion pack "The Burning Crusades," the new land, the new races, the new level cap, the new this, the new that. Yes, I was all over it, studying it and just simply excited about the whole thing. Sadly I never really got to play in the Outlands since dropping grades and questioning parents are apparently more important. Yet to be honest with you all, this new expansion pack "Wrath of the Lich King" grabbed me by the collar, tickled me silly and made me tell it how beautiful it was. Now I have a dilemma, start World of Warcraft again? Or not? So now you want to know why I have this dilemma.... Well then let me grab you by the collar and tickle you silly.
The expansion is set on Northrend, Azeroth. If anyone played the Warcraft RTS game, you would know that this is where King Arthas now resides. This new land will come with new abilities, skills, instances, items, and yes of course a new level cap of 80!!! One innovative and very interesting addition to the game is found in PvP. There will now be PvP matches that have siege weapons. Yeah, that’s right, big big boomz. These siege weapons will enable the destruction of buildings. To accommodate the innovativeness of adding siege weapons, there will be a new battleground where the aim of the game is to destroy the enemy's base using siege weapons. So honor won't only come from killing the foe, but it can also come from blowing up the foe’s home... siiiiick!
Now, one of the most anticipated additions to World of Warcraft in the expansion "Wrath of the Lich King" is the very first hero class, the death night. The death night is a class which will enable players to be able to both tank and deal magical damage (dps-damage per second). Becoming a death night won't be easy though. To unlock access to this class you will need to reach level 80 with a character first. Then with that character do a quest that tells you a story related to Arthas, and this is where you enable the Death night class. You can then start a new character as the death night, but don’t worry you won’t have to start from scratch. You will begin with the death night at a higher level than the other classes. The starting level is unknown, but it is rumored to be level 55, but it isn't sure. Either way you'll be able to try all the new abilities and skills exclusive to the death night. One very unique change to the death night is that it doesn't use mana or rage or any of the known sources of power. Instead it will use a rune system. It’s a system where you will need to buy runes and use them to refill your rune bar enabling you to use your abilities. Which abilities you can use will depend on what rune you use, furthermore you can mix what runes you use to unleash amazing combos. As cool as the death night is, you will only be able to have one per server. Well at least it lets us appreciate it more haha.
Wrath of the Lich king will undoubtedly satisfy the World of Warcraft community, and may attract many more to join.
