World of Warcraft: Powerleveling a Hunter

September 9th 2010 03:40

When it comes to leveling a Hunter in World of Warcraft, this can be the easiest class for beginners, because of the DPS synergy between your Hunter and their pet. This is especially the case if you are using the right build and using it correctly. Here are a few tips to help make sure you max out your potential when leveling your Hunter in World of Warcraft.

Talents

The primary tree you need to focus on for your Hunter is the Beast Mastery talent tree with the secondary focus in the Marksman talent tree. The purpose of this is to make sure your pet becomes the focal point of your enemy. The talents in this tree allow your pet to become more durable and able to handle more enemies than the standard pet.

By strengthening your pet, it will allow your Hunter to use their ranged attack to help reduce the life of your enemies. Here is the order in which you should spend the talent points on your Hunter.

Beast Mastery Tree

Improved Aspect of the Hawk (5 pts)
Focused Fire (2 pts)
Endurance Training (3 pts)
Aspect Mastery
Unleashed Fury (5 pts)
Ferocity (5 pts)
Intimidation
Bestial Discipline (2 pts)
Improved Mend Pet (1 pt)
Frenzy (5 pts)
Bestial Wrath
Animal Handler
Catlike Reflexes (2 pts)
Serpent’s Swiftness (5 pts)
The Beast Within
Cobra Strikes (3 pts)
Longevity (1 pt)
Kindrid Spirits (5 pts)
Beast Mastery

Marksmanship Tree

Lethal Shots (5 pts)
Focused Aim (3 pts)
Careful Aim (3 pts)
Improved Hunter’s Mark (3 pts)
Mortal Shots (5 pts)
Aimed Shot

Gear
When you are selecting the gear for your Hunter, the primary statistic you need to increase is Agility. Remember for every point in Agility you receive an increase to your attack power, critical chance, and dodge.

The next statistic is up to debate, some experienced Hunter prefer more Intellect so they can build up their Mana pool while others like to go after Stamina so they have more health. If you reside on a PvP server, it would be wise to go with Stamina as your second option.

Glyphs
Just like with Gems and the proper talent build, Glyphs can help fine tune your Hunter so they receive optimal DPS. You will want to select the following Major Glyphs; Bestial Wrath, Hunter’s Mark, Serpent Sting.

Simple Tips
When taking on a NPC mob you first and only attack as a Hunter should involve your Ranged weapon. If you are using your melee weapon, you are reducing your overall DPS.

As you gain more levels and skills, you will find that your pet can handle more than one enemy. Use this to your advantage to help your gain levels quickly, just make sure you do not overdo it and bring more than the two of you can handle.

If you are looking for an easy way to make money as a Hunter, pick up two of the gathering professions, like Herbalism and Skinning. This way you can build up a nice chunk of gold by the time you reach level 80.

Do not worry about upgrading your gear with every level. As a Hunter you will find that you are leveling quicker than the rate at which you replace your gear. The most important thing to remember is to keep up your weapon so the DPS is on par with your pet. Otherwise you are fine with using the gear from quests as you level.
