Top Ten Greatest Enemies & BAD GUYS!

May 13th 2008 15:15
10. Doctor Ivo Robotnik (EGGMAN)
EGGMAN
Big Belly, Long Legs, Hot Temper...

Big and bold, this evil villain from the ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ series is known very well by the once Sega loyalists, and most Nintendo loyalists. He has a humorously ridiculous way of trying to defeat Sonic, yet he isn’t so stupid when he makes his inventions come to life. Dr. Robotnik is not considered Sonic’s head on rival, but rather the powerful professor that keeps getting in Sonic’s way. Only because of Eggman does the ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ series have Sonic encounter many battles with technology and futuristic puzzles to solve.

This funny looking Bad Guy has landed as number 10 on this list due to his interesting and well welcomed role in the Sonic series, yet also because of his lack of interaction, appeal, and popularity. Either way, no one will forget this whole hearted villain.

9. Pacman Ghost
GHOST
'Cus its more than just a pixel...

Who doesn’t know the Pacman ghost? Well, probably quite a few people, but when it comes to the gaming community, I believe no one can say they’re a true gamer if they don’t even know Pacman’s arch-rival. Pacman’s deadliest and only enemy are these ghosts who can travel pretty fast yet seem not to be able to stop their eyes from twitching. This pack of hooligan ghosts flying around Pacman’s backyard are always looking for a bashing, but Pacman being good obviously does have a way of defeating them, simply by picking up a power up and eating away. These ghosts are colorful and abundant but sadly did not get as much recognition in the end as master Pacman did. Oh well, they did end up on quite a few t-shirts.

These not so friendly ghosts scored a 9 on this ‘Greatest Bad Guy’ list, simply because Pacman wouldn’t be where he is today if it wasn’t for his enemies. Those ghosts may not be the most popular, but they for sure are a crucial element to one of the greatest games of all time.

8. Grunt
GRUNT
Cute and Dangerous? nah just cute

I have to say this honestly; I can’t believe the grunt made it through all the series of Halo without dying out. If I remember correctly, I wiped them out in every game, faster than finishing a simple game of capture the flag with myself. Sometimes I wonder why in the world they were even put into the Halo series when they even sleep on their job. Sure it is fun mowing a crowd of them down as they try running away for cover, but I really don’t see the point of their presence. Still, they are cute little animals and do give a humorous touch to the game to the game. If I had the choice, I would keep them the way they are. As useless as they are, I enjoy having them as my enemies. Instead of always having the cute creatures on the ‘good’ team, it’s about time that there was an introduction of a cute, lazy, weak, yet aggressive enemy.

This alien fuzz ball landed on the number 8 of 10 on this list because of its unique and fun presence in a popular, modern first Person shooter. I have yet to wait until it can be used online.

7. Stormtrooper
StORM TROOPER
Maybe a clone, but a popular one

Everyone that has taken the time to read this amazing post has to know what a storm trooper is, and where it comes from. If you don’t, well then I suppose.... STAR WARS! C’mon! There’s a simple reminder for you. This type of character hasn’t only been apparent in 5 of 6 of the star wars movies, but is present in almost all the games based on this extremely successful story. Now what makes this enemy better than the last 3 numbers? Simple, it’s history, popularity, and crucial addition to the games. The storm trooper used to be a clone trooper, back when it was a good guy. Now it’s a bad guy, and a bad guy that everyone knows. It is found in a wide variety of games from Star Wars Galaxies, an MMORPG to Star Wars Battle Front 1&2 an FPS. Even their skill levels miraculously change from one game to another. In Star Wars Galaxies the troopers have a high level, and can eradicate rebel noobs, while in star wars battle front, they’re your equal.

The storm trooper deserves the number 7, but does not deserve to go farther because of its lack of ‘power.’ It’s loved by many people, and even has costumes for real humans to try look like one, but their stature in games is limited.

6. Kane
KANE
Hey! A Real Human!

The ruler of an evil cultist army, a believer of equality among all people, and willing to do anything to acquire power, Kane is fit for number 6. For one Kane is actually played by a real human, he has an abundance of followers ready to do his bidding, is feared and hated by everyone who lives on the ‘healthy’ parts of earth, and finally lets us fight with his army as well as fight against his army. His powerful Nod army is fun to use against the GDI forces and has an extremely evil ambiance to it in all the RTS Command & Conquer Series. That’s right, there’s more than one, and dates back to one of the first RTS games on PC, not to mention together with Red Alert one of the first RTS games on a console! (Playstation) Kane never gives up in his goal for power, and always seems to creep himself back onto the scene. Some people hate that trait in villains, but many love it. Kane is power hungry and will stop at nothing to get what he wants, now that’s an evil villain people want!

Kane was just right for number 6. He is a perfect villain ruler, who has an admirably evil army to do what he says. The only problem with Kane is that we never really see him in game. Nevertheless he is nothing more than evil!

5. Dr. Wallace Breen
Dr Breen
Humans don't like him very much

Do the words Black, and Mesa, ring a bell? If you’re a hard core FPS fan I sure hope they do. Dr. Wallace Breen in Half Life 2 is a stereotypical ‘classy’ villain who is working for aliens to take over this world. What makes his a stereotypical ‘classy’ villain? You may ask. Simple, he acts tough when he has some sort of power between you and him, but once he is faced against you one on one, fear creeps up his spine. Yet he is a smart and merciless Bad Guy, he has loads of combines at his disposal, and cares more for his own well being than for the well being of his own race. He is a Bad Guy that we don’t like very much, I personally despise him and loved having to play to try and destroy him. There are many bad guys like him, but he fit perfectly into the Half Life 2 world. He is a professor with selfish intentions who saw helping the aliens as the quick and comforting way out of harm.

Dr. Wallace Breen is in the Middle of this list because he is a villain holding power with an extremely interesting story. The point that our overall goal is simply to hate him and help people avoid him, and if ever given the chance to eliminate him leaves a lot of suspense of his unpredictable plans. Though Dr. Wallace Breen is barely encountered in Half Life 2, the waves which he throws at you as a Gordon is unpredictable and gives the game a great excitement. Dr. Breen is a great planner and surprise, with always selfish evil intentions. He makes everyone want to frag him.

4. Big Daddy
BIG DADDY
He's Just mad 'cus he ain' puuurty

WHO’S YO DADDY!!! Big Daddy is! This Bad Guy is purely siiiiiiiick! Throughout the new highly esteemed xbox 360 game Bioshock, big daddy always has to make its appearance and give the gamer a hell of a game. With a pitiful and touching intention the Big Daddy only wants to protect a little girl out of harm’s way, which in many cases is your way. Once you engage in combat with this merciless underwater beast, you will experience an adventure. Your attention will be directed fully to the TV because this Bad Guy simply won’t give up; it’s not an easy task to beat this Bad Guy. This unique ‘muscle’ character is ready to take on whatever comes at him. What is truly unique about Big Daddy is that most gamers end up pitying it rather than despising it. Sure in the midst of battle, the hate will show itself, but once defeated you can feel a sense of guilt. Either way this bad guy is a tough freak and won’t let go, that’s a Bad Boy I’m talking about, or should I say Bad Daddy.

Big Bad Daddy was at war with the bad guys that got 3rd place, but what made it fourth was its simple repetitive way of fighting compared to the variety of ways the baddies on number 3 fight.

3. Cops of GTA!
COPS!
3 on 1, unfair...

If any one disagrees with my 3rd place ranking simply because of this statement; “heeeeey wait a minute Cops are good!” then please buy a console and play any GTA. In GTA Cops are not necessarily your worst enemies but they for sure are the most fun you’ll ever get as enemies. Who wants a whole arsenal of weapons under their shirt if they can’t even use it all? Not me. So I play GTA, in fact I play all the GTAs, and my favorite thing to do is scavenge cops after me so that I can prove to myself how much more powerful I am than the law. Even better, the cops aren’t so easy! There will always be a point in which there are too many cops, swat teams, FBI agents, or even tanks after you to handle. The Popo in GTA is simply adrenaline filled, and has a guarantee not to disappoint any gamer looking for a shootout. The release of GTA 4 brought me to a fantasy land of happiness by introducing the idea of a 16 players online in the whole of liberty city. The way I see it is 16 people against the law!

GTA’s police force deserves 3rd place, and to many, it would even squeeze over to first place. It’ss unquestionably fun, and almost never seen before as cops being the enemy. GTA ALL THE WAY!

2. Illidan
ILLIDAN
Those REAL!? naaahhh...

Hello to 10,000,000 World of Warcraft players all trying to reach the one goal of finally defeating the oh-so-famous Illidan, how close have you gotten? Probably not close enough. This Beast is extremely hard to get to and takes a lot of time and concentration. Now that’s what I’m talking about, a villain who is so tough and so mighty that players have to PROVE themselves before they have the chance to take on such a creature. Not only that, but like many other Bosses he can’t be taken on alone. If anyone wants to defeat him then a great amount of teamwork within a large group of skilled players is needed. Illidan is truly a Bad Guy to the point where he only accepts worthy challenges and does not give off a fake image of power. His power is no Lie.

Illidan easily landed a place as number 2 because of the determination that it takes to even reach him, the team work that is required to pull him down to his knees, and the pride of the gamers to accept the prize that is given. Illidan may not be the fast fun quick shoot ‘em up enemy, but once reached it for sure is a fun, cooperative, challenge which tests all gamers and their skills.

1. BOWSER

BOWSER!!!
I'm sure that inside, he's a nice guy...

The greatest villain that you were probably itching to uncover is our very own BOWSER!!! Head to head with Mario throughout the entire popular Super Mario series, Bowser has accomplished the task of becoming the most famous villain in the gaming industry. Bowser has the ability to be mean and cruel to scare everyone, he has an essence of humor from time to time, he rules an army, he has the history, he creates many scenarios that Mario has to face, he is not afraid to go head to head, has our pity from always loosing but ignores it, always seems to entertain us by getting the girl before Mario does, and most importantly NEVER, EVER, EVER GIVES UP! Bowser holds powerful traits that can even be found in every villain on this list and more. I cannot think of any weaknesses that Bowser has that would keep him from being the number 1 Bad Guy of all time! That is simply because there are none!

Bowser you are respected among all gamers, all good guys and all bad guys, you deserve to be number 1!
