Star Wars: The Force Unleashed! The story inbetween Episode 3 and 4 portayed in a game!

SW: TFU

Honestly, who could really have had enough of the light saber craze? Well… not me! Forget that! Any chance I get with a light saber is a chance I am always willing to take! And Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is that chance. Lucas Arts is releasing a new Star Wars game headed for most consoles including: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PSP, DS, and the PS2, and they plan to blow you away. This game comes to show how George Lucas is not fully out of the picture yet. He is introducing it to the gaming community not to let players reenact one of the Star Wars movies from yet ANOTHER point of view but instead it brings with it a new chapter. A chapter set right up in the middle of the 6 widely known Star Wars films. Haven’t you ever wondered ‘what ever happened in between Star Wars episode 3, and Star wars Episode 4?’ This game is here to tell us that story.

SW: TFU

You play as Darth Vader’s apprentice. A secret apprentice that Darth Vader trained not only to continue his legacy, but also to track down and assassinate remaining Jedi all over the galaxy. Sure, this time you play on the dark side of the force, but if that’s where the power lies then that’s where you’ll get to play. Now, getting into the game play details, you may ask ‘what makes Star Wars The Force Unleashed different from the other Star Wars games?’ well in truth it’s an extremely obvious change which has to do with the title itself. The usage of the Force is enhanced to a level that impressed me. Watching videos of pushing canisters in front of low flying tie fighters to blow them up, picking up storm troopers while having them hold on to whatever they can to attempt to release themselves from your force, or having your Force affect different materials differently simply made my jaw drop and my eyes open wide.

The technology used is completely new and morphs the game into a world that no one has ever witnessed yet. The new physics engine, ‘Euphoria,’ created by NaturalMotion, enhances the character’s ability to wreak havoc. Now let me explain how things are different in a world with ‘Euphoria.’ The awareness of your A.I enemies becomes impressive. For example, if you were to pick up a metal crate using the force you will get a reaction that you won’t be able to predict from your enemies. Some will jump out of the way, others will hold on to the crate, and some won’t be able to think long enough and simply take the hit. Using the Force on metal doors will differ than when you use them on wood or glass, and especially when on biological terrain. Metal will be more prone to bending, while wood breaks with loads of splinters, glass shatters, and huge plants simply sway. In the past star wars games it was fun blowing away a couple soldiers, but now you can push a whole line of soldiers bombarding you with lasers, about 50 feet away.

This game simply looks cool, awesome, and seems like it’s worth a try when it releases. The most impressive part is the physics engine enabling the force to be used in so many ways. Otherwise the graphics are impressive and truly does use the potential the 360 enables the game to have, and the story is there to have us understand what went on during the transition of episode 3 to episode 4. So at this time the game seems like it will be worth the buy. It was announced to be released in September this year of 2008. So keep track of this game all of gamers and Star Wars fans!
