FABLE 2! Free will is coming your way!

May 14th 2008 11:12
Fable 2

As humans, we have an interesting 'perk' in the animal kingdom compared to all the other animals. This 'perk' is known as Free Will! And i've gota to tell you, i just love free will. So why not have the same freedom in a game? Well Lionhead Studios' Fable 2 offers just that!

Most of you that have played the first Fable on Xbox, have already gotten to experience an abundance of free will, from being able to beat kids till all the children run away, to having a wife in every town that adores you and simply can't get enough of your heroic charm. Yet there were only 2 simple paths which your character could take. One was to become good, and the other was to become bad. As much fun as trying to accomplish each path was, over time it got repetitive and boring, especially because once the campaign was over, there wasn't much to do other than try out getting new haircuts, tattoos, and exploring the not-so-vast land given to accompany your freedom.

Fable 2
Even early on in the game, gamers will crave some action...

Fable 2 on the Xbox 360 is not necessarily a drastic difference from the first Fable but it for sure is a drastic upgrade. First of all, gamers should be rejoicing due to the fact that now you are able to choose between being a girl or a boy. It's about time we get some female heroes in the mix. Either way for both males and females there is more to your character's moral status than a simple good or bad path to take, the consequences to your actions are more than simple marks put on your "evil" side, and being evil or good wont be so easy choose from as it affects the whole game. There will be times where you will encounter decisions which can affect your character lightly but in the far future can turn a city upside down. You will also have to make decisions which can affect your appearance, or your character's well being, and as much as you don't care how you look, everyone in town especially your family will. Having your loved ones scream and fear you isn't the greatest esteem booster, i can assure you that.

Other than becoming good or bad, making money and getting experience become 2 separate goals in Fable 2. Doing quests will gain you experience to become a powerful hero, but won't give you enough cash to buy the equipment you want or even need, while getting jobs, betting at pubs, and finding ways to profit with goods and such will get you the money you want to gear up for the fight. You will be able to use expensive powerful weapons near the beginning of the game, but without the experience it wont do much. The game encourages, and almost enforces you to play in a mindset of reality.

Fable 2
Looking pretty good if you ask me

After all of these awesome facts coming my way there was one more thing that caught my attention. From the beginning to the end of the game you will be able to play along-side a friend, due to the availability of co-op. Not only that but for whatever quest or other reason you have for leaving town in the game, you can convince towns people to come with you. They can be mercenaries to help you fight or beautiful ladies (virtual ladies that is, sorry guys) to keep your happiness high.

Fable 2 coming out on the Xbox 360, truly is a game that i am looking forward to playing, and i recommend that you look into it too. Lionhead plans to release Fable 2 during the final months of 2008.

Use your free will wisely and do not ignore FABLE 2!

Those graphics look really good. I wonder why I've not heard much about this game..
