EA's Battlefield Heroes competing with Valve's Team Fortress 2

Team Fortress 2 and its innovative cartoon look became famous among many gamers. People began to enjoy the less serious first person shooter as more and more people entered the interesting world of these comic looking battles. As the game slowly became famous, and more popular than the first team fortress, Electronic Arts decided to take a risk and create a similar game to add on to its Battle Field series.
Battlefield Heroes is predicted to hit shelves sometime during North American (June, July, September) summer. This game will have a new look but will still be played with the same rules as the past battlefield games. 2 teams on one map will battle each other in capturing points in the attempt to lower the enemy team's ticket count. Each person is able to fly an airplane, drive a tank, navigate a boat, and so much more to weaken the enemy troops in a battle. That's the gist of a battlefield game. Yet Battlefield Heroes isn't simply taking a change in look but also a change in targeted gamers.
This game will be FREE! Completely FREE!! Not only that but it will be played on a web browser! There will be no need to buy or download/install the game at all. All you will need to do is make an account and start playing on the web browser itself. You will still have a ranking system, the ability to make friends, and unlock prizes such as weapons. There are 2 teams that can be played one is the Royal Army, and the other is the National Army. Actual names of countries were taken out of this version of the game but the game has taken a WW2 look with its weaponry, characters, and vehicles, so at least there is a historical context to the battles.
The game will only be able to consist of about 16 players per battle, which was made so that people will be able to play the game smoothly even with computers a few years old, this is also an advantage of the cartoony look. The game's cartoony look also comes with interesting skills such as a slow heal over time which will heal friends beside you or being able to create a shield that will cause bullets to ricochet away.
This new addition to the Battlefield series for the PC may insult many players with the taking away of an all out serious, team based, strategic war simulator but as much as I will miss the old style i believe Battlefield Heroes will become a success for EA games.
I'll see you on the Battlefield.

I think the cartoon look is quite popular because it recognises the fact that it's a game -- and so you can get away with having non-realistic rules which make the game more interesting.
Looking forward to reading more posts

If there isn't and it really is playable throught he webbrowser then that means EA is actually having the games code run on their own servers wich is of course utterly fantastic.
