Changes to Expect for Demonology Warlock in World of Warcraft Cataclysm Expansion
October 15th 2010 01:48
The World of Warcraft expansion, Cataclysm is going to be released at the beginning of December and there will be several changes taking place for Demonology Warlocks.
For starters, Blizzard is making changes to several statistics that play an important role to the success of your Warlock. The Intellect attribute will grant your character increased Spell Power. They will be removing the Spell Power attribute from everything except for weapons. Spirit will only be found on Healing gear and will no longer benefit your Demonology Warlock’s mana pool.
Blizzard has also made a radical change with the talent trees and how they work. When your Warlock reaches level 10, you will be given the option to decide which talent tree; Affliction, Demonology, or Destruction, you would like to specialize in.
When you select Demonology, your Warlock will be given access to the Summon Felguard spell and will receive a 15% damage bonus to your Shadow and Flame spells.
You will not be able to branch out from the Demonology tree until you spend 31 points, then you can dish out the remaining few points to the other trees.
There are a few talents that have been removed from the Demonology tree; Improved Healthstone and Fel Vitality. You will also see several, other talents combined or paired down to help make the talent trees feel more compact and not jam-packed with filler talents.
While Demonology Warlocks did lose some familiar talents, they did gain several new ones that should more than make up for it. In the first tier of the Demonology talent tree, you will find Dark Arts, which is going to increase the DPS of your Warlock’s pet. Whether it increases the attack power of the Felguard or the Shadowbite of your Felhunter, Warlocks should see an immediate benefit from Dark Arts.
Another talent that had Demonology Warlocks excited is Impending Doom. This talent is found on the third tier of the Demonology tree and when maxxed out with three talent points will offers a cooldown damage reduction for the Bane of Doom. So instead of dishing out damage every 30 seconds, your opponent will be hit every 15 seconds. This is an even bigger plus since it can be a critical strike.
The last new talent to discuss for Demonoloy Warlocks is Hand of Gul’Dan. While you may be drawn off by the three second cast time, you have to like the direct damage it applies to the initial target then the area affect attack it offers on the surrounding enemies. When you combine this unique Demonology spell with the other talent Cremation, your Warlock will have a 100 percent chance of refreshing your Immolate spell.
Overall the changes for the Demonology Warlock in the upcoming Cataclysm expansion look positive and should result in a more rewarding experience than in the past.
